The charm of Moreno Lake.

The lake has a large number of beaches, but the most accessible and visited are those adjacent to the two bridges of the Circuito Chico: the one that overcomes the short Arroyo Angostura, which drains the lake in neighboring Nahuel Huapi, and the one that overcomes the channel that divides both halves of the lake.

These beaches are located in the northern part of the lake.

It is visited while the Circuito Chico is being carried out from where you get beautiful views from one of its viewpoints at the foot of the road.

Beaches.

Other of the closest beaches to the City of Bariloche, is the one known as Playa del Viento, at km 12 (Bustillo).

The lake is navigable, but with boats with outboard motors for tourist and sports reasons. It is also one of the preferred destinations for windsurfers and sailors. The name Playa del Viento, was given by the local neighborhood council, and I think everyone can imagine why.

It is the only lake that can be fished all year round, obviously with a fishing permit.

The lake is located in the vicinity of San Carlos de Bariloche and is a very popular tourist destination for its inhabitants and visitors.

Its waters are relatively temperate, since its main contribution is not the thawing of winter snows, but of winter-spring rains.

For this reason, this lake is, along with Lake Moreno, a preferred destination for water sports and swimming. It has several beach areas, many of them accessible by paved roads.

The Tehuelches initially called this lake "Ojo de Dios".

The level of the lake waters has been artificially increased and controlled in the mid-20th century by a lock, which regulated the water to two plants, located downstream from the Gutiérrez stream.
Currently there is one left, which supplies energy to the facilities of the Argentine Army.

The other, previously also energized Cerro Catedral, until a thermal power plant was installed, and then San Carlos de Bariloche was connected in the national interconnected electrical system, which made it part of a cold reserve.

For this reason, and due to the increase in its elevation, the lake has been modified, especially on its beaches.

Which have not only been greatly diminished, but many trees and shrubs have suffered erosion due to waves.

The Nahuel Huapi is a glacial lake which explains why it has such crystal-clear blue waters.

It covers a surface area of 557 sq. meters (1825 ft.) and is 700 meters (2300 ft.) above sea level.
